Can the factory farming of animals be justified?
I think that factory farming of animals can be justifiable.
I have two reasons to support my opinion.
First, it would contribute to the elimination of world hunger. According to one survey, around 10% of world populations are still suffering from the lack of nutrition today. However, factory farming of animals enables us to produce foods much more efficiently. Also, we can not only increase the amounts of foods, but also make them more nutritious. If these livestock were distributed to developing countries, then world hunger would decrease in the future.
Second, it enables farmers to alleviate their physical burden. In the conventional farming, farmers need to work unreasonable hours because they need to monitor the conditions of animals all the time. However, thanks to factory farming, they can automate some parts of works like feeding, temperature adjustment, and so on. Some may argue that it is too costly, but they will be able to recoup the initial investment in the long run.
From these two reasons, I believe that factory farming of animals can be justified. (177 words)
