I disagree with the idea that the global economy would benefit from having a single world currency.

I have two reasons to support my opinion.

First, it has economic disadvantages especially for developing countries. If the world had a single currency, then prices of goods in countries with fragile economic conditions would increase dramatically. On the other hand, the average salaries for workers would not increase so much. In other words, the purchasing power for its citizens would diminish significantly. This may result in higher unemployment rates and less government funds.

Second, a number of systems that are running in society would need to be modified. For example, for stores, they have to change the numbers that are written in price tags. In addition, banks need to abolish currency exchange system, meaning that bankers would have to calculate a lot of numbers. These modifications require so complicated tasks, leading to heavier burden for workers.

From these two reasons, I don’t believe that the global economy would benefit from having a single world currency. (173 words)
