I agree with the idea that alcohol is more damaging to society than tobacco.

To explain my opinion, I have two reasons.

First, alcohol is one of the causes of serious accidents or criminal activities. For example, according to some researchers, driving-related deaths involving alcohol are 8 times more common than the death without alcohol in Japan. Also, when people drink too much, they tend to be aggressive and some of them even try to hurt other people. These problems don’t occur while we’re smoking.

Second, addiction to alcohol often leads to bad relationships with other people. In fact, addiction to alcohol is regarded one of the serious illnesses recognized by WHO. For instance, patients of the disease often drink while doing their works. Under the situation, it is very difficult to keep good relationships with coworkers. Also, it is reported that domestic violence and child abuse is much more likely to occur if family member is addicted to alcohol. In this way, alcohol often destroys families.

In conclusion, I believe that alcohol is more detrimental to society than tobacco. (180 words)
