I’m against the opinion that scientific efforts to bring back extinct species a waste of time.
I have two reasons to support my opinion.
First, it will be one of the factors to ensure biodiversity. It was reported that around 200 and 2,000 animal species become extinct every year. Many experts argue that this is leading to the loss of biodiversity, and collapse of the ecosystem. Ensuring these things are dispensable because they play important roles in providing us with the sources of daily necessities, and comfortable living environment.
Second, it will contribute to scientific advancements. Through this kind of efforts, scientists will have lots of opportunities to deepen their understandings about genetic information. This will result in the improvements especially in the field of medical and agriculture. For example, it may be helpful to treat incurable diseases such as cancer. Also, more amounts of genetic information enable agricultural companies to improve the quality of GMOs.
From these reasons, I don’t believe that scientific efforts to bring back extinct species a waste of time. (174 words)
