I disagree with the idea that current agricultural practices are sustainable.
I have two reasons to support my opinion.
First, environmental problems are getting worse and worse. For example, the amounts of harmful substances that are released into the air are increasing dramatically in many countries. In response to this trend, rainwater is gradually being polluted. Also, experts point out that global warming is becoming so serious, and it is causing the destruction of ecosystem. Under the circumstances, it is becoming very difficult for farmers to cultivate crops, and the quantity of crops that need to be wasted is increasing.
Second, it is concerned that the number of farmers will decrease. I think there are several causes for this. For example, high-paying job opportunities are mainly based in urban areas, and young people tend to leave rural areas for jobs. Also, many people argue that working as farmers is too demanding, since they need to work for long periods of time in order to check conditions of crops all the time.
In conclusion, I don’t believe that current agricultural practices are sustainable. (182 words)
