英検1級2次試験:Should the Japanese government do more to promote human rights in other countries?

Should the Japanese government do more to promote human rights in other countries?

(日本政府は、他国における人権を促進するためにもっと努力すべきか?)

I disagree with the statement for two reasons.

First, it is often reported that human rights are not protected enough in Japan. In fact, there are lots of people who are discriminated against in our society. For instance, there’s still peer pressure for women to resign from employment upon marriage. Also, I’ve heard that Japan is a very unwelcoming place for the member of the LGBT community. Under the situation, it’s not good idea for Japan to enlighten the importance of human rights.

Second, there are a lot of issues that Japan should deal with immediately. For example, because of the super-aging society, many experts concern that pension system in Japan will collapse in the near future. In addition, due to Japan’s low birthrate, Japanese companies are having trouble in securing adequate labor force. As a result, young working population is forced to work for unreasonable hours. These problems should be prioritized the most, rather than taking care of human rights in other countries.

In conclusion, I don’t believe that Japanese government should make more efforts to promote human rights in other countries. (183 words)
