Does feminism play an important role to play in modern society?

I disagree with the statement from two perspectives.

First, the problems of discriminations against women are improving steadily. For example, the number of countries that allow women to vote in national elections has been increasing. This means that a greater number of citizens are coming to have rights to reflect their opinions toward the government, regardless of their genders. Also, thanks to the Internet, gender inequality is improving especially in the area of education in many developing countries.

Second, job opportunities for women have been increasing dramatically. In the past, there used to be a kind of peer pressure for women to leave workforce after having their first baby in Japan. However, lots of companies are nowadays making efforts to support female employees. In fact, statistics show that the rate of women who take maternity leave has increased in the last few decades. Also, large corporations are starting to allow female workers to hold managerial position, if they produce good results.

From these two viewpoints, I believe that feminism is becoming less important in modern society. (176 words)
