I’m against the opinion that the pros of legalized gambling outweigh its cons.

I have two reasons to support my opinion.

First, gambling habits is highly addictive for many people. Studies have shown that once people start gambling, then it’s very difficult to quit. Also, addiction to gambling is recognized as one of the serious mental illnesses by WHO. Patients with this illness often lose great amounts of money, leading to bankruptcy. Many of them commit crimes such as fraud in order to pay it back.

Second, it exacerbates relationships with other people. For example, according to some researches, the number of domestic violence increases if family members are gamblers. Also, gambling habits prevent people from concentrating on their valuable things like work. Under the circumstance, it’s nearly impossible for those people to build good relationships with coworkers.

From these two reasons, I believe that the advantages of gambling outweigh the disadvantages even if it is legalized by the government. (160 words)
