I’m of the opinion that urbanization has gone too far. There are several problems caused by urbanization.
I’ll explain two examples of them to support my belief.
First, urbanization has greatly contributed to environmental problems. For example, growing number of urban centers and factories have polluted the air, and destroyed natural ecosystem. Also, it is estimated that human civilizations are responsible for the destruction of nearly 50% of world’s trees. These problems are becoming worse because of urbanization, leading to a loss of biodiversity.
Second, urbanization has led to the disappearance of rural communities. Many people have moved to big cities in order to obtain high-paying job opportunities. As a result, population in rural areas has decreased dramatically. Under the circumstance, for instance, it is very difficult to maintain agricultural industry. In addition, traditional activities such as festivals, craft making have lost their relevance.
From these two perspectives, I think that urbanization has gone too far. (156 words)
